Lesson 1: Why Get an ADHD Diagnosis?
You might be wondering – why do you need an ADHD diagnosis in the first place?
If you think you have ADHD, one of the most important things you can do to start with is to get an official ADHD diagnosis. Ideally, your diagnosis should come from a qualified health care provider. Not just anyone will do. It’s important to seek out an ADHD expert.

But why should you get an ADHD diagnosis in the first place? One of the main reasons is that:
ADHD makes things challenging…
ADHD can make just living your life difficult in some ways. Some people have learned to live and cope with the symptoms of their ADHD. But managing untreated ADHD brings many challenges to your life. Trying to keep your life balanced and managing this delicate dance can take a toll on your mental and physical health. The challenges ADHD brings can be overcome more easily with proper treatment and symptom management.
Let’s hear from one of our ADDA volunteers as she describes her struggles with ADHD.
An official ADHD diagnosis can help you find out what’s actually going on in your life. When you have a better idea of what’s going on, you can really start to address your symptoms and get on the path to managing your ADHD. Treating your symptoms is essential because ADHD can impact your life in so many ways.
Part of the problem in managing adult ADHD is the fact that it is quite frankly under-diagnosed. Adult ADHD also isn’t well understood, even by some health care professionals. While around 4.4 percent of American adults have ADHD, only about 10.9 percent of those adults receive treatment for it. ADHD expert and psychologist Dr. Sharon Saline explains:
Having ADHD can bring many challenges to your life, education, or career performance. Let’s hear more from ADDA’s community members, as they share the impact of ADHD on their lives:
When your ADHD isn’t diagnosed, you aren’t getting treated. This makes everything in your life so much more difficult. Begin your ADHD journey by educating yourself about ADHD, and check out some facts about adult ADHD in the resource section at the end of this module.

So here it is 10 September ’25, and still no quizzes? Has there been any progress at all? How about occasional updates from y’all, rather than only responding to comments from us users?
Where is the quiz please? And is there a way to stop the floating menu on the left of my phone? It floats all over the page covering a lot of it which makes it hard to focus as I spend a lot of time collapsing it!
Thanks
The quizzes for the 90 Day Course are currently paused. We’ll let you know when they are back online. Please feel free to enjoy the rest of the course.
As a new member, I really appreciate the information given in this course and the testimonials from the members recounting their experiences with having ADHD. However, I wonder if someone on the ADDA staff could take another look at the course and proofread the quizzes.
.Question #4 of the quiz is still marking the correct answer as “incorrect”. A member complained about this in 2023 and someone from Admin replied that this would be fixed. However, as of today, November 9, 2024, this issue has not been addressed. This is the second quiz that I’ve encountered in the 90 Day Dawn that has this problem.
Thank you in advance for listening and attending to this issue.
I love these videos because it gives a voice to what I’m experiencing. All I can think is….what made me think I was alone?
The testimonials are great and really help me feel connected. I really want to learn how and where do I get help? What kind of help, beside regular therapy and medication, is there? And do on.
Me too!
I really love the little video’s that are part of this course and I love being able to identify with others
